Iron Fairies

Iron Fairies
Iron Fairies

Dark and Dickensian, this steampunk meets speakeasy defies description and is like no other in Bangkok. In addition to being a restaurant, gallery and antique store, it also features a working iron foundry that makes fairies! Owner and creator Ashley Sutton, who is also an author and blacksmith, creates ethereal metal figurines based on his children’s books about fairies and their escapades.

Black walls become a background for the work tool and machinery that is scattered about the place along with old jars full of wooden corks, a big mining claw, and the aforementioned fairies. A gargoyle sits on the bar and the wrought-iron spiral staircase leads to nowhere. Silent movies are projected on walls and a strolling magician entertains with sleight-of-the-hand tricks, while a live band plays jazz.

Iron Fairies

The bar menu is small, but good with the Big Beef Burger especially recommended which comes nailed to a chopping board with a steak knife; be warned though it is enormous. Drinks range from a selection beers to usual range of well-mixed cocktails. Just the place for a night out with friends.
