The phrase “shop till you drop” was written for Bangkok. From swanky shopping malls and department stores to bustling markets and standalone stores that sell everything and anything your heart desires and your wallet can afford; from global high-fashion brandnames, local handicrafts, textiles, jewellery, to antiques, electronics, and furniture, the city has it all.

Here is a run down of the top city malls. All Seasons Place on Wireless Road is a 13,000-sqm prestigious shopping complex boasting of 150 leading retailers that include clothing boutiques, tailors, exquisite art and antique shops, jewellery, watches, and high-end sporting products. Located in the heart of the city, Siam Paragon offers shoppers 500,000 sqm of retail space, and everything from Gucci shoes to a Lamborghini sportscar. In between it offers local and international brandnames, restaurants, a cinema multiplex, supermarket, and much more. Its basement floor is also home to the 10,000-sqm Siam Ocean World, one of the largest aquariums in the region. Centralworld at Ratchadamri is one of the biggest lifestyle shopping complexes in the city with over 500 Thai and international brands from around the world, more than 50 restaurants, 21 cinemas, a bowling alley and two department stores: Zen and Isetan. Across from Centralworld is the Gaysorn, a five-storey high-end shopping centre featuring only top brandnames and designer boutiques like Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Alfred Dunhill, Porsche Design, Thomas Pink, as well as Louis Vuitton’s largest store in Asia. Further along in mid-Sukhumvit, The Emporium Shopping Complex is an impressive six-storey department store with upscale retail shops, restaurants, cineplex and the Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC), an exhibition space.Every visitor makes a stop at the MBK Mall opposite Siam Square at one time or the other. A warren of small stall and large shops, it stocks everything from electronic products, games, and mobile phones to clothes, jewellery, sports equipment all at bargain prices. Before you leave the Kingdom stop by at King Power Duty Free on Soi Rangnam, which is well stocked with leading brand names from fashion to cosmetics, and from gift items to jewellery. Crystal Design Centre

Terminal 21 is the city’s newest altar to the shopping gods. Unique destinations from around the world such as Rome, Paris, Tokyo, London, Istanbul, San Francisco and Hollywood come together under one roof to offer a whole new shopping experience that is Market Street style. Each floor has a different theme based on a city, complete with icon elements from that particular destination, so that shoppers feel that they have travelled to a new location each time they step of the escalator. London, for example, has red telephone boxes and a double-decker bus. On the other hand, Istanbul has a look and feel of a Middle Eastern zouk with a contemporary feel. On the 4th and 5th floors, San Francisco is the place to rest your weary feet and fill your stomach. Altogether, the nine floors are home to 600 shops, a cineplex, a supermarket, a food court and much more.
