Oasis Café

Oasis Café

Thani Road

This attractive café is a comfortable place to grab a quick bite or linger over a coffee. Enclosed in a courtyard, the entrance features a koi pond and a small waterfall with plenty of greenery all around. Quirky artefacts all over provide a fun element to the mix and match décor here. On offer are snacks, sandwiches, cakes, coffee, smoothies, and a small selection of Thai dishes.

Top recommendations include the excellent spaghetti with yellow curry powder and seafood, or the yum tua ploo, wing bean salad with succulent squid and prawns. To satisfy any sweet cravings, try the chocolate ice cream served with whipped cream and a fried roti. A great place for families...

Wang Hansa

Wang Hansa

Satuek, Buriram

This restaurant, which can cater to large groups of visitors, has been around for the last 20 years serving up tasty Thai dishes and while the décor is nothing special, the food more than makes up for it. Don’t leave without sampling the delicious honey-coated roast duck served with noodles and peanuts. Or, the pla boran taptim that comes with carrots and fried lemongrass. The standout dish though is the chef’s signature tom yum seafood, a moreish curry with tender morsels of seafood. The perfect for families and a group of friends.

Pai’s Kitchen

Pai’s Kitchen

Buriram

For 10 years Pai, an ardent fan of the local football club, Buriram United, has been serving Vietnamese cuisine in the heart of city. Born to Vietnamese parents who migrated to Thailand, Pai serves up delicious nem nuong; grilled pork patties that sizzle with the aroma of fresh garlic and roasted rice powder served with spicy fish sauce. Fish two ways is one side cubed and deep-fried with garlic, while the other is steamed and dished up with a gravy and salad. But don’t leave without an order of fried spring rolls stuffed with spicy pork mince and glass noodles. Hearty food for the soul. Take the family or a group of friends.

Muang Pizza

Muang Pizza

Harnchana Road

One wouldn’t really expect to find good pizza in the north-eastern provinces of Thailand, but Muang Pizza serves some great pizzas with a thin crispy base that is made fresh daily. The restaurant is airy with some nice prints of Dutch graphic artist Maurits Cornelis Escher on the wall. The “Buriram” is topped with tomato sauce, minced pork, ham, mushroom, onion and mozzarella. Or if you want something with a bit more zing, call for “The Lava” with pepperoni, anchovies, olives, onion, capsicum and mozzarella. There is also a small selection of pastas, steaks and Thai dishes. Other than the pizzas, the top recommendation would be the finger-licking good BBQ ribs. A nice place for an evening out for families, couples, or a group of friends.

Baan Chay Nam

Baan Chay Nam

Tambon Mueang

Make a night of it at this popular restaurant that features indoor and outdoor seating, folk shows, live music and excellent Thai and Isaan delicacies. It’s packed most days, so book in advance and if the weather is pleasant sit outside, especially for families or a group of friends. The menu is extensive and there is plenty to choose from. Opt for the two-sided fish that is half spicy and half sour, or the duck, fried crispy and topped with sesame and creamy mayonnaise. Other picks include the steamed snapper with garlic, the oysters served with tamarind paste, onion, paprika, fresh garlic and lemon, or the roast pork cooked with local herbs and fresh vegetables. Cool the fire in your mouth with some cold local beer.

Buriram

Most of Buriram’s nightlife is concentrated in an area known as The Square on Romburi Road between Nivas and Tannee roads. Home to a number of bars, restaurants and the massive Victoria karaoke complex, it’s difficult to miss with all the neon signs and flashing lights. And all of them are best experienced with a group of friends.

At the top of the heap is the popular Speed Music Hall Disco, packed 365 days in the year. Most days, the stage is a showcase for vocalists accompanied by back-up dancers singing popular Thai hits, though some nights feature a local band. A DJ fills in between sets playing a mix of hip-hop, dance, techno and Thai chartbusters. A variety of beer...
