A Minute by Tuk Tuk in Galle

Located on the second floor of what was once a colonial Dutch hospital building is A Minute By Tuk Tuk, the go-to place for foodies when in Galle. The name is inspired by the time it would take to get there from anywhere within the Galle Fort on Sri Lanka’s most distinctive mode of transport.

Get a table out on the deck, sit back and enjoy the breath-taking view of the ocean while listening to the soothing sounds of waves crashing on the rocks below. And if it is too hot outside, you can always unwind at the air-conditioned bar. The restaurant’s chic décor featuring light wood furniture, quirky and colourful self-branded coasters and menus add to the relaxed atmosphere.

Ambience aside, the main reason why this is one of the most frequented restaurants in Galle is the food. The restaurant is renowned for its signature dishes, namely the Isso (Sinhala for prawns), a mouth-watering Galle prawn curry served with traditional Sri Lankan bread. There is also a wide selection of burgers and sandwiches, as well as signature cocktails and desserts.

A Minute By Tuk Tuk opens early morning, which means you can start your day off with a hearty breakfast. However, like most patrons you will find yourself spending way more time here than you initially intended to.
