The Tuna & The Crab in Galle

The Tuna & The Crab is the brainchild of Dharshan Munidasa, one of Sri Lanka’s top chefs and restaurateurs. Located in the old Dutch Hospital building within the Fort, the restaurant offers a distinctly unique dining experience that combines the finest local ingredients with expert Japanese culinary techniques.

Trying to decide on a favourite item from the menu is like trying to pick a song from a Greatest Hits album of your favourite artiste. The fresh sashimi, temaki, baked crab, chilli crab, tekka makki and tuna nigiri are all hits. The aptly titled Galle Fort Bento, features a selection of fresh sashimi and nigiri, prawns and an avocado and tuna salad.

The restaurant also has a sushi bar where you can watch expert chefs prepare your food right in front of you, and while it is predominantly seafood themed, there are a few beef options.

The Tuna & The Crab is most probably the only restaurant of its kind along the South coast. A place where connoisseurs of seafood and Japanese cuisine can treat themselves to some of the finest creations by one of Sri Lanka’s greatest culinary artists.
