Black Mountain Water Park

The brightly coloured Disney-esque structure of Hua Hin's newest attraction beckons from a distance. Only about 10 kms from town on the Pala-U Road, the twin facilities of water park and wakeboard arena is perfect for families or group of friends to chill out and cool down without hitting the beach.

The 55,000 square-metre water park, which has a capacity for a 1,000 people, is said to be one of the biggest and most up-to-date in Asia. At the top of everybody's to-do list will be the 17-metre tower from which nine water slides “empty” their riders into a series of pools.

These range from easy one-story drops to the three-story corkscrew. A slow flowing "lazy river" with submerged benches to sit on winds it way around the park. Other facilities include a giant wave pool, a bouncy castle, a 60-metre infinity edge beach pool, sun loungers and a huge food court that serves up Western and Thai fare.

Located next door is the wakeboarding area, one of only six in Thailand, where boarders are pulled by a cable system around the lagoon. The 880-metre track can accommodate several riders on the water at a time, and a number of jumps and objects allow advanced boarders to show off their stuff.
