For the avid golfer, Hua Hin is the perfect place to tee off. It has the highest concentration of world-class golf courses anywhere in Thailand and you will be spoilt for choice.

The oldest one, and also the first ever course in Thailand, is the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course that was designed by Scottish railway engineer O A Robbins and opened in 1924.

The 18 holes with a par 72, has no real water hazards, but thousands of trees (some a hundred years old) line the fairways which are rather narrow in place, and the slight elevation of most greens will test most golfers.

The beautiful Jack Nicklaus-designed course at the Springfield Royal Country Club has been the venue for many major championships, including the Thai Open. A par 72 it features long fairway bunkers and numerous water hazards, and now has nine more holes added to the original 18.

The 18-hole, par 72 Black Mountain Golf Course is set in a valley surrounded by “mountains”. Retaining many of the natural features of the land, designer Phil Ryan created it to test golfers of all skills. Located to the south of Hua Hin, the 18 holes of the Banyan Golf Course follows the natural contours of the existing terrain with stunning views of the Gulf of Thailand from several points.

The first 36-hole course in Hua Hin, the Imperial Lake View Hotel and Golf Club was created under the concept of “one course with four styles”. The main A & B courses (Mountain & Lake) offers water hazards, doglegs and hidden greens that are sure to test most golfers. With the C & D courses (Desert & Links), the former mimics an arid landscape with plenty of cacti, rocks, and bunkers, while the latter is encourages long drives and thoughtful game plan.

Organise a friendly tournament for friends, take the family for a bonding session on the fairways, or, if you are a couple, head down to the green for some quality time together.
