The Larder

The Larder
The Larder in Koh Samui

A newcomer to the island dining scene, this down-to-earth brainchild of Chef Martin Selby and Food and Beverage aficionado Damian Ahern serves up a combination of comfort food and classics, that mixes and matches modern British and European cuisine with smidgeons of international influences; they like to call it back-to-the-basic rustic fine dining and it’s difficult to scan the menu and not want to try everything on it. Your best bet is to eat lunch one day and come back another night for dinner, as the menus are different. Best go with the family or a group of friends to ensure you get a taste of everything.

Eat lunch here and you miss out on the moreish runny yolk scotch egg with asparagus for dipping and garden herb salad, or the sumptuous slow-cooked belly pork with a soy bean puree, green vegetables, egg yolk croquette, caramelised red onion & sage jus. Only do dinner and you can’t sample the freshly steamed black mussels with leeks, smoked bacon and cider, or beer-battered snow fish, garden pea purée, homemade fat chips and creamy tartare sauce.

The drink menu offers the usual suspects and then some. Their cocktail list with a twist throws up some curious blends such as the ‘Old Fashioned Swine’, house-infused bacon bourbon, grade B maple syrup, angostura bitters twisted with orange, and the ‘Peanut Butter Martini’, Larder-infused peanut butter cup vodka, milk, and chocolate; its pure liquid magic. And if you want to know what their cheese list is called, then you have to head on over.
