Located in the Khao Pra-Bang Kram Wildlife Sanctuary, it’s a 1.5 km hike over a wooden boardwalk and dirt trails through the lush tropical rainforest to get there.
The first spot is the “Sra Kaew” or “Glass Pool”. Though swimming is forbidden here, it is a great stop to watch the fish swimming in the crystal clear water. A short walk further is “Sra Morakot” or “Emerald Pool” with its warm, crystal clear emerald green waters. It’s beautiful place to swim if it is not over-run by tourists.
Continue walking further and eventually you will come to “Bonam Phut” or “Blue Pool,” a spring fed water pond, which is turquoise and feeds the Emerald Pool.
The water in the various pools come through porous rock layers and contain a high amount of calcium carbonate making it unsuitable for drinking. The changes in colour depend on the algae and temperature of the water. Take the family or go with a group of friends.
