Zorbing at Rollerball

Zorbing at Rollerball
Zorbing at Rollerball in Phuket

Zorbing, globe-riding, sphering, orbing, or hill-rolling. Call it what you want, but this adrenaline-charged fun activity invented by New Zealanders David and Andrew Akers is now available on Phuket and you don’t require any special skills to partake. The concept is simple: A giant ball, partially filled with water, and with two passengers, is rolled down a hill slope.. Rollerball located in Kalim has two tracks, one is straight and easy, the other with sharp curves for a bit of excitement. The huge zorbs are double layered with a cushion of air between the two layers. The riders enter through a tunnel into the inner ball, which is filled with 40 litres of water before the zorb is rolled 190 metres down the hill. While the experience is difficult to describe except to say that it’s like being inside a big washing machine during the tumble-dry cycle, it’s a lot of fun and is suitable for all ages and groups. It’s safe too and all riders are insured. There is a small bar attached to the Rollerball reception area that serves soft drinks and beer.
