Xing Ping Ancient Town

Around Yangshuo there are a number of towns and villages to visit and Xing Ping Ancient Town is one of the most charming.

After about half an hour by car, you will arrive at the stone entrance gate of Xing Ping Pass by the street food and drinks sellers and proceed up a small hill into the old quarter. Many buildings date from Qing Dynasty times. Most recently, they’ve been renovated and turned into small shops, cafés, teahouses and restaurants. Enjoy browsing the main streets, but also explore the side alleys. In the quieter spots, you can still find the older generation enjoying the shade of their homes while playing mahjong or relaxing with neighbours.

After reaching the top of the hill, leave the old quarter behind and proceed to the bus station. This is a great spot fora delicious bowl of Guilin noodles if you’re ready for a something to eat.

For the more adventurous, Bingjiang Bridge (兵江桥) is just outside the main town. Walk along the road next to the Li River until you find the sign for the “Twenty Renminbi Viewing Point”. This is where one can view the same scenery which is featured on the Chinese Twenty Renminbi note.
