Hiking

The limestone peaks around Yangshuo beg to be hiked and there’s nothing more enjoyable than getting off the busy road and into the mountains. There are a number of wonderful hikes to do that are easily accessible from Yangshuo Town.

Moon Hill is the most popular hiking destination as it is quite close to the town and accessible off the main road. This climb is suitable for people who are looking for a short hike and a great view. The hike is also good for families with small children.

Hiking
The landscape on the Trail of the Number One Scholar makes the long hike worth the effort.

A longer, but lesser known, hike is the Trail of the Number One Scholar. Find the trailhead to this 10-kilometer hike before Moon Hill near the entrance to the Gold Water Cave. There is no entrance fee but it is off the beaten track so go equipped with everything you might need, especially water. Unlike Moon Hill, there is very little shade on this trek but the views and landscape are well worth the effort.
