River Rafting

River Rafting

Another way to see the landscape from the comfort of a boat is to hire a bamboo raft for a short trip downriver. The Yulong River, just outside Yangshuo town (about a 15-minute bike ride), has a number of locations where rafts can be hired. A quieter, smaller tributary feeding the Li River, the Yulong doesn’t experience the same large boat traffic.

During the warmer months, vendors at the docks sell water pistols to raft guests. Children love playing with the water as they float down the river and raft patrons have been known to engage in friendly water fights. This can be a lot of fun but make sure your camera and phone are in a waterproof bag.

Raft cruises typically take 45 minutes to an hour.
